My Trip To The Getty Museum

Over the weekend, my dad, my brother and I went to the Getty Art Museum. It was an educational and fascinating trip that I will remember because of its beautiful art.

To get to the Getty, we had to take a tram to the museum. At first I was scared because I am afraid of heights, but then I opened my eyes and saw the beautiful hills with nature surrounding them.

When we got off the tram, we went threw the entrance and saw magnificent sculptors.

We also saw fountains that shooted water that could go up to ten feet tall!

This is a picture of my brother and I near a funny statue that had a face like it just ate a really sour candy, so we tried to imitate it the best we could. =) =)

This is the Hermitage Garden, Maison Rouge that was painted in 1877 by Camille Pissarro. It represents a family in a farm that is struggling with their life and is trying to make a living, but they are having deep troubles.

This is Irises by Vincent can Gogh that was painted in 1889. Vincent van Gogh painted this picture in Saint-Remy, where he was recuperating from a severe attack of mental illness. The painting represents the artist's deep personal belief in art and nature.

This is Convalescent by Edgar Degas and was made in 1872-1887. The reason why the artist painted this picture, is because his cousin came from New Orleans and when she got to his shelter, all she did was sit and and stare into space. She sat there so much, he decided to make a portrait.

This is The Ransom by John Everett Millais that he painted through 1860-1862. In this scene, a knight is being reunited with his kidnapped daughters, and tries to bargain to keep them so the kidnapper won't keep them and the knight will retrieve his daughters.

This is The Portrait of Princess Leonilla of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn by Franz Xaver Winterhalter which was painted in 1843. He drew the portrait because he thought she sat in a way that conveyed her wealth and sophistication.

This is The Entrance to the Jardin Turc by Louis-Leopold Boilly which was painted in 1812. This scene was in Napoleonic, Paris where they stand on a shady boulevard outside of the Jardin Turc, a popular establishment.

That was my trip to the Getty Museum. I had a wonderful time and I can't wait to go again when there's a new exhibit.

Have you ever been to the Getty Museum before?
What exhibit did you see?
Did you like it?
Would you ever go again?
